Getting To Know…Billy Strawter

Today’s “Getting To Know” features Billy Strawter.  He and I have been following each other on Twitter for a while but it wasn’t until the first Detroit Bloggers event that we met face to face.  This guy is awesome and you’ll see just how busy he is when you head over to bjstrawter.com.  He is a husband to Jennifer, father and entrepreneur and you should ask him where he came up with “3sixteenweb” for a Twitter handle!  I’m looking forward to getting to know him more and I think you should too!

Everyone, get to know Billy Strawter.

Who is the most influential person in your life and why?
My father. He showed through servant leadership that you don’t need to rule with an iron fist to be an effective leader. That giving back to the community, putting your family first, caring for the welfare of others, not what you do for a living, is what defines you.

Guilty dessert pleasure?
Coconut cake. White frosting, white cake, oh my. Can’t stand coconut on anything else, but put in on a cake and I’m done for.

What is the one piece of advice you’d give someone?
Don’t give in to fear or be afraid to fail. Find the things that scare you, take them head on. Be it public speaking, starting a company, or standing up for what you believe. You’re stronger than you know.

Favorite childhood memory?
The freedom of being able to run around in my spidey underoos. How’s that for no fear?
