I almost fell into the trap, the one thing that most people do when they find out that they are going to be a parent. The single act that signifies I’m going to be the greatest parent to ever live. That act is heading to Barnes and Noble and clearing out the baby section of any and all books that even reference babies. I’m pretty sure that when that baby starts crying at 3 in the morning the only thing those books will be good for is to throw. (just not at the baby)
Are poopy diapers really that bad?
I watch all these videos of dads who are attempting to change a diaper and trying to not throw up because of the death cloud the unwrapped. I mean honestly are poopy diapers really that bad? Do I need to run out and get a gas mask to protect myself from the daily presents I will soon be receiving? Why do you never see that same reaction out of women? Anytime I see a mother/grandmother changing a diaper they are talking about “how cute the little poo poo is.” Not one time has America’s Funniest Home Videos had a montage dedicated to women gagging over a baby. If someone can answer me that question I would really appreciate it.
Are you ready?
That’s the number one thing that everyone wants to know and they all keep asking me. I’ve come to the conclusion that I’m as ready as I’ll ever be. I would be lying if I said I didn’t have a little fear about the next stage of our lives beginning but I also know that my excitement far exceeds that fear. So if you want to know if I’m ready to not get any sleep, change a countless number of diapers, watch hours and hours of cartoons and change my normal tone of voice to the whiny baby talk…….you bet 🙂
If you’re a Michigan State University Spartan, you know Tim Bograkos. He was part of MSU Basketball from 2000 – 2005 and won a Big Ten Championship and went to 2 Final Fours. After his playing days at MSU, he pursued his professional career in Finland and Greece for 2 years before joining the MSU Alumni Association. I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know Tim through conversations at Tedx Detroit, 140 Conference Detroit and at SXSW this past year. He is a great representation of Spartan nation and I’m equally excited that he and his wife Jessica get to experience the joys of parenthood for the first time as they expect their first child. You can find Tim on Twitter at @timbograkos as well as his blog, The Sixth Option.
